Description
Heterotis niloticus, often known as African Arowana Fish, is available for purchase. The African Arowana, one of the most unusual fish of the ancient “bonytongue” family, is found throughout the continent’s freshwater ecosystems, usually along the banks of shallow rivers or streams near reeds or other plants. They are the only fish in their family that are known to filter feed, searching for food such as worms and tiny crustaceans in murky water and sand.
They tend not to bother their tankmates and are quite calm fish in the aquarium. They must always be kept closely covered since, like other Arowana, they are skilled jumpers.
